Membership in WISSAR

Join us, and become actively involved in the many programs and activities of our organization.  There's the Color Guard in Revolutionary War uniform, history programs at local schools, law enforcement recognition, essay contest for high school students, and a scholarship program for Eagle Scouts to name a few.  If your trace your ancestry to the Revolutionary War period, we would like to help you become a member of the Sons of the American Revolution.

(Contact our Registrar, William Wells, Jr, 2519 Fox River Pkwy, Waukesha, WI  53189-7747 or by  EMAIL, for Wisconsin information on membership.)

The SAR is a "lineage" society, which means you must have an ancestor who supported the cause of American Independence during the years 1774-1783.

The application listing your lineage must be accompanied by copies of the documents that support this lineage. An Application Worksheet may be downloaded in PDF format from:
      http://www.sar.org/forms/sarworksheet.pdf
and a free template for Microsoft Word may be obtained from:
      http://www.sar.org/dessar/applbris.htm

Any man shall be eligible for membership in this Society who,

being of the age of eighteen years or over and
a citizen of good repute in the community, and
is the lineal descendant of an ancestor who was at all times unfailing in loyalty to and rendered active service in, the cause of American independence, either as an officer, soldier, seaman, marine, militiaman or Minuteman, in the armed forces of the Continental Congress, of any one of the several Colonies or States; or as a Signer of the Declaration of Independence, or as a member of a Committee of Safety or Correspondence; or as a member of any Continental, Provincial, or Colonial Congress or Legislature; or as a recognized patriot who performed actual service by overt acts of resistance to the authority of Great Britain.

You will find much detail on membership from our National WEB site membership page.  Click here --> National membership page
